Comparison of AUC of independent ROC curves

1st ROC curve

2nd ROC curve

Description

This procedure allows to compare the Area under the Curve (AUC) of two independent ROC curves.

Required input

Enter the Area under the Curve (AUC) and Standard Error (SE) for the two ROC curves.

Click the Test button to test the statistical significance of the difference between the two AUCs.

Interpretation

When the calculated P value is less than 0.05 (P<0.05), the conclusion is that the AUCs of the two ROC curves are significantly different.

Note that on MedCalc P-values are always two-sided (or two-tailed).

Methodology

MedCalc uses the method by Hanley & McNeil (1982 & 1983).
